Endoscopic Septal Spur Resection

Abstract
We have used submucosal resection or septoplasty for treatment of septal spur, which can result in increased bleeding and length of surgical procedure and need of postoperative nasal packing as well as mandated hospital treatment. For the purpose
of
reducing the weakness of traditional technique, we performed endoscopic septal spur resection at outpatient department on 10 patients, who had some trouble that any instrument could not be inserted into nasal cavity during endoscopic sinus
surgery
or
LASER turbinectomy, they also suffered serious headache or nasal stuffiness due to the severe septal spur itself. An endoscopic approach, which targets the septal spur alone, can be performed even at outpatient department because the procedure
and
postoperative management are easy and simple, and can minimize postoperative morbidity. (Korean J Otolaryngol 38:9, 1995)
